Going by the number of requests we have for information from people who are organising their school reunions, Katoomba High School is held in strong affection by many of its former students. The members of the school archives committee do their best to locate resources and information, however, due to privacy laws, we are not always able to fulfil all these requests There are also gaps in our school archives, so if you have any photos or other mementos from your time at KHS that you think that the school should have a copy of in our archives, please contact the school.
Most years the school is contacted by about 2 or 3 different groups organising their school reunions. Often they ask whether it would be possible for their group to tour the school as part of their reunion. Wherever we can, we try to arrange a tour, as it is dependant on staff members being available to donate a couple of hours of their weekend.
We have had large celebrations for the school's 75th & 85th anniversaries which were attended by many former students and staff. The next anniversary will be for a centenary of secondary education at Katoomba.
The school itself does not organise reunions for any year groups. If you wish to publicise or make contact with your former classmates the following suggestions have proved useful starting points:
- set up a Facebook page;
- make contact through schoolfriends.com.au;
- use the free contact/reunion sections in The Sydney Morning Herald & The Daily Telegraph;
- contact the Blue Mountains Gazette

The former students and their families toured the school on Sunday and were quite impressed with the new facilities that had been added since their time attending KHS. A few did comment that it "still smelt the same" & also that they were "sure that the rooms appeared smaller than they remembered".
