Travel to school
Planning your school travel is easy. There are a range of safe transport options to get to our school. Check our location map, driving details and public transport options to help make the journey to school safe and easy.
Location map
We are located at Martin St, NSW 2780 Katoomba.
Use School Finder to confirm if you live in our local intake area.
Walking to school
Students walking to school should respect the property of the local community and utilise footpaths respectfully. Once at school, enter through the front gate.
Riding to school
Students can ride to school and lock up their bikes at the bike racks located at the front of the school.
Catching public transport
Public transport is a great way to safely get to and from school.
Catching a bus
Public school buses are provided for transport for the following:
- Home to school
- School to home
For current information relating to bus services and travel routes, visit the CDC NSW website.
School buses are not designed to take students to friends places, shops, gym or places of employment. Students wishing to catch a bus for these purposes can catch the bus from the bus stop at Lurline St and Goyder Ave. They will need to use their green Opal concession card.
Students are required to carry a blue school Opal card (knows as a school travel pass) everyday they're catching the bus.
Coloured Bus Pass Program
To ensure all students get home safely, Katoomba High School has implemented a coloured pass program based on where students live. Priority is always given to students who are carrying their coloured pass. Students who require a coloured pass must see Mrs Draper in the TAS staffroom.
Catching a train
The closest train station is Katoomba. Students without a school travel pass are required to walk. The walk is approximately 20 minutes.
Apply for a travel pass
Eligible students can get a free travel pass under the School Student Transport Scheme. Apply for a travel pass today.
Driving and parking
The start and end of the school day are busy times for pedestrians and drivers outside schools.
When driving and parking near our school, please:
- ensure you park safely in school zones
- follow speed signs
- do not make U-turns or 3-point turns outside the school.
